Dr. Zombolas was first involved in the Oriental arts at the age of 13 when he began his martial arts training. He has studied and has taught various styles of oriental fighting systems such as Karate, Gung Fu, Ju-Jitsu, Escrema and Jeet Kune Do. Included in these studies, Ted was introduced into the world of Oriental healing arts. His exposure to herbal remedies, which are used for treating injuries sustained in training and combat, opened him to the world of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Zombolas has an extensive western medical background in critical medicine since 1978 and currently holds certification as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Cardiovascular Perfusionist (CCP) and Acupuncturist (L.Ac., C.Ac.). He has been credited with historic accomplishments serving as one of the first paramedics (Advanced EMT) in Montreal. He was also a member of the heart surgical team involved in the first three Jarvic total artificial heart implants in Canada. As well, he is a distinguished Cardiovascular Perfusionist, involved in Open-Heart surgery (operating the heart-lung machine), including multi organ transplantation and long-term life support. He is credited with numerous papers written on perfusion related topics and has also lectured in Canada and the USA on perfusion.

Dr. Zombolas began his studies of TCM in the United States, and completed his Acupuncture studies at the Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Academy of Toronto (CMAAT), at which he received a Diploma of Traditional Chinese Medicine Degree. He passed the first ever certification examination in Ontario and was certified by the Ontario Acupuncture Examination Committee (OAEC) (Ontario, Canada), and the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) (USA). Dr. Zombolas holds a diploma from the International Medical Acupuncture Training Program from Beijing China. While in China, he also fulfilled an extensive internship at the Yunnan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Kunming China. 

In 2007, Dr. Zombolas received a Ph.D. (Alternative Medicine) from the Indian Board of Alternative Medicines, in association with the Open International University for Complementary Medicine and the World Health Organizations.

Dr. Zombolas is constantly improving and refining his skills by continually studying with well known acupuncture masters around the world, thus integrating these various healing methods to developed a unique style of acupuncture that has afforded him exceptional results.  Dr. Zombolas specializes Master Tung style Orthodox Acupuncture that predates the current People’s Republic of China’s Traditional Chinese Medicine style acupuncture.  As well, he incorporates style of balance method in his unique acupuncture treatments. This ability to integrate the above treatment modalities frees blocked energy in the body, which in turn balances the body’s systems and returns the body to homeostasis at a quicker rate than conventional acupuncture styles.

Dr. Zombolas has been a guest lecturer on Traditional Chinese Medicine in China, Canada and the United States. He has also lectured at the WON Institute of Gradual Studies. He is the author of the book "Food As Medicine, A Traditional Chinese Medical Perspective".
